Downlands Countryside Management Project

Much of the Downlands Countryside Management Project area is of high landscape value, part within the Surrey Hills AONB. The rolling chalk hills and associated valleys give rise to stunning scenery.

Godstone_-_North_Downsc.gif (28720 bytes)Project activity prioritises management of the rare chalk downland within its area. The Project has sheep and goats which successfully graze the chalk downland as part of a long term management regime. Other work includes development of an extensive series of trails, including contributing to the London Loop walking route, improvements to and signposting of rights of way, woodland management and pond restoration. The Project also runs a wide ranging programme of guided walks.
